Kyisha is wise-cracking and dry-humored, ferocious vengeful and fiercely stylish. She both cheerily volunteers at a homeless shelter and then will not hesitate to kickbox the crap out of somebody. She dwells a lot on the past, when things seemed simpler, and is very nostalgic despite her young age and often makes choices based on things from years earlier, such as wearing certain shoes because they remind her of something, or choosing things based on numbers corresponding to specific dates from her childhood. Kyisha is also a master grudgeholder, and her distaste for someone who has wronged her in the past flows just as strong in the present. The two have been friends for years but Kyisha harbors frustration, jealousy and resentment toward Scout, and has a hard time reconciling this with herself. Kyisha’s relationship with Noah is a big focus in her life, although she constantly worries about losing him since everyone in school has a crush on him.

Kyisha is intersex (5-ARD) and is involved with an activism-support group, and struggles with people verbally and physically attacking her in school because of this, or people being angry over Kyisha’s identity. She is typically quick to retaliate, also both verbally and physically, but her jaded demeanor doesn’t betray how hurt she is by people. She also has a serious peanut allergy and must be vigilant about avoiding them in all their forms, which makes navigating school and society even more treacherous. Kyisha spends time practicing her kickboxing at the gym, and likes fancy socks, spiders, historical documentaries, waking up to rainy mornings (which is growing ever rarer with Dranac’s sparse rainfall), and getting new shoes. She hates chemistry class, hospitals, fast food, folk music, sweaters, and everything on TV.
